I’m more and more in love with Devon and the South Coast of England.
Yesterday morning we took a nice long walk to Bantham beach. We meandered through the countryside, enjoying the beautiful rolling hills untill we hit the seaside.

Looking out at the tidal river Avon |
I was blown away by the beach, I truly didn’t expect scenery like this in England. The tide was out, and the sandy beach seemed to go on for miles! We could see all the boats resting on the sand.

Plenty of people were surfing and playing in the water… this is a place with true West Coast vibes.
To quench our thirst after the walk, we went to a little Pub called the Sloop for a pint of cider. I had an apple-blackcurrant flavour which just hit the spot.

This afternoon, we had lunch at what Liam’s family claim is the “best pub in England”. The Journeys End Inn is a little unassuming pub tucked away in the small village of Ringmore.

The pub dates to the 13th century and is a “free house”. This means that’s it’s not associated or owned by any specific brewery, so the pub is in local hands and servers a large variety of drinks. The pub has been open so long for a good reason: the food is fantastic.

Fish and Chips! (I’m just a little addicted) |
My fish and chips were the best I’ve had on our whole trip. All the ingredients are locally sourced, and the fish was fresh out of the sea. Combined with our huge plate of chips, this meal left me full for the rest of the day!
After lunch, we hit another stunning place: Ayrmer Cove. This is a rather isolated beach cove, which is only accessible by walk from the village of Ringmore. The walk is absolutely stunning.

Since you walk up on the cliffside, you can see huge expanses of ocean and green cliffs stretching on for miles. This is so unique and not a view you can experience when you approach the ocean from the woods or from ground level.

Breath-taking views |
I adored the sheets of rock and cliff soaring upwards from the water, it felt like such a magical place.

We drove back along a rather quirky and note-worthy road: the Tidal Road. This road runs along the river that leads to the ocean, and so is greatly influenced by the tides. At high tide the road is fully submerged, but at low tide you can easily drive along!
