Bon Voyage & Bon Appétit

  We’re back in the town of Totnes for a few night before we head to London. So far, we’ve spent our time meandering through town, treating ourselves to little sweets and baked goods.  Walking over the River Dart Today there was a lovely food festival on, right along the river side. We had a wonderful time checking out all the little food stalls full of homemade pickles, preserves, fermented drinks, fresh veggies, and practically anything else you can think of! Food festival on the riverside Eat Festival… my favourite type of festival I was very drawn in by one stand which was selling kimchi and cheese toasties. This was essentially a grilled cheese sandwich with kimchi inside! The spice of the kimchi was perfectly balance by the mild cheese. I’m more and more in love with Devon and the South Coast of England. Yesterday morning we took a nice long walk to Bantham beach. We meandered through the countryside, enjoying the beautiful rolling hills untill we hit the seaside.  Pedestrian footpath to Bantham Beach Walking through the English countryside Looking out at the tidal river Avon I was blown away by the beach, I truly didn’t expect scenery like this in England. The tide was out, and the sandy beach seemed to go on for miles! We could see all the boats resting on the sand.  Over the last few days we’ve been enjoying the wonderful fresh air of the Devon countryside. Liam’s extended family have a land here, so we’ve been lucky enough to stay with them for a few days.  Beautiful sunny countryside Our days have been filled with reading, walking through fields, and enjoying the sunshine. Oh, and of course I have been greatly enjoying all the sheep and cows.  My new best friend So many cute sheep! A beautiful cow Before we got to the countryside , we spent a few days in Totnes, a small town on the river Dart. This is such a lovely little place with a beautiful river walkway and lots of quaint colourful houses.  Long walkway by the River Dart Walking through colourful streets I was stuck by how similar the people in this part of the UK are to those on the West Coast of BC.
