Bon voyage and bon appétit… well this post is mainly bon appétit! Our last two days in Nice have been spent relaxing, swimming in the sea, walking around the town, and making our stomachs happy.
Yesterday we spent some time working in the morning at Caffè Orso, accompanied by coffee, hot chocolate, and a hazelnut chocolate cookie.

In the afternoon we walked through Nice’s beautiful old town and decided to try some socca from a little family shop called Chez Thérésa. Socca is a thin crêpe made from chickpea flour, olive oil, water, and salt. It’s a traditional street food in southern France and is very crispy, light, and delicious! It was one of my favourite things that we tried.

Of course we had to get some desert. The colourful Macarons in the window of Chocolaterie - Alexis Monod caught our eye… we tried strawberry ,blueberry, and pistachio-orange blossom!

This morning I insisted with starting our day with a cortado from the highly rated and very popular La Claque Coffee Shop. My coffee was fantastic and Liam’s croissant was fluffy and fresh!

Energized, we took a long walk along the coast to the Cap de Nice, a rocky outcropping with beautiful views back to the main city. It took us about 1.5 hour to walk there from the old town but it was a very lovely walk with a spot to refill my water bottle along the way.

On the way back we got hungry and stopped at La Pointue Des Pêcheurs for a pain bagnat (which literally means “bathed bread”). This is a sandwich originating from Nice consisting of whole wheat bread filled with tuna, egg, onions, olives, tomatoes, and peppers. I absolutely adore the pain bagnat, it’s so filling and such a great flavour combination.

We got back to Nice old town and decided it was too hot to continue without ice cream. To mitigate this, we went to Terre adélice for some uniquely flavoured natural ice cream. Although a bit expensive, it was so worth it! I got a lemon-basil sorbet and a raspberry sorbet while Liam got passionfruit sorbet and pomegranate sorbet. It was the perfect refresher to continue our journey home.

I could stay in Nice for another two weeks, I absolutely adore it here! The city has plenty of good food, beautiful buildings, and adorable shops to explore. The weather is perfect for a seaside vacation and the temperature of the water is sublime. But alas we must continue our trip…I’m not disappointed however because tomorrow we’re off to Italy!
