Airplane food

Hello all :)

Spending the next four months away from home I thought I would try to keep a blog, to share experiences with loved ones and to drop my travel thoughts! But we’ll see how well this blog actually keeps up in the grand scheme of things and in the businesses of travel.

We started our journey in Victoria, ferried over to Vancouver, and caught our flight out of YVR to London! Packed in just (large) backpacks I feel like a true adventurer; one backpack on the back, one on the front, and a Canadian flag pinned to everything.


So what’s the idea for this blog? Well I’m thinking a little travel, a little culture, and of course, a LOT of food! 

But perhaps not airplane food… although I usually end up liking it a lot more than I expected to!

Pastel De Nata

We had an absolutely stunning day today! Although we spent about 3 hours driving from Lagos to Sintra on Portuguese tolled highways, our time in both those cities was incredible. We had a fantastic breakfast spread in our hotel today, and we we spent about 45 minutes tasting Portuguese delicacies, including tomato and pumpkin jams, honey fresh from the comb, and many breads and baked goods. Delicious breakfast We were now fueled to take a walk on the beautiful boardwalk in Lagos. We walked along the Atlantic towards the Ponta da Piedade, a rocky outcrop where a small lighthouse stands. BC Ferries Yam Fries

  Four months, 13 countries, endless love and memories. I cannot believe I’m already writing the last blog of this trip! The time has flown by. This evening we left London for our last flight of the summer, our flight home to Canada. We spent September 2nd similar to how we spent May 2nd - walking around Hampstead Heath and stopping for feast at Ginger and White Café. Goodbye feast at Ginger and White It felt so surreal to be back in London exactly four months after we got here! The seasons had changed, leaves were falling, but the city felt somewhat familiar, comfortable almost.  Fall leaves appearing in Hampstead Heath As we took the tube to the airport I felt nostalgic for our travels already - it’s been such a unique experience.  Waiting for the tube in the new Elizabeth Line station I won’t lie, I teared up a little bit waving goodbye to London from above. Fried Chicken

  Today we finally got some chilly weather… which I was unprepared for! However, our last day in Stockholm was still wonderful.  We started the cloudy morning with a ferry ride to another one of Stockholms islands. Our destination was the Vasa Museum.  Our ferry boat (which is a part of public transport here!) The Vasa Museum is one of the most popular museums in Scandinavia as it houses a fully preserved shipwreck from 1628. The Vasa was constructed in 1628 and set sail from Stockholm… unfortunately it only reached about 1km offshore before sinking! The imposing hull of the Vasa Reportedly, the Vasa was top-heavy, so when a huge gust of wind tipped her, water poured into her open gun ports, quickly sinking the ship.
